An electric guitar made from box elder wood

Today I’d like to show you one of my most recent guitars.

What makes this creation unique is the selection of woods chosen, and I decided to use clear gloss polyurethane varnish to bring out their different colours. This varnish allowed me to highlight the red flame at the top of the body, caused by a disease in the wood, which is the key attribute of this handmade instrument.

Here are the materials I used to build this electric guitar:
Body: Black korina
Top: Box elder
Neck: Madrone
Fingerboard: Flamed anigre
Pickup: P-90 Alnico 5, made by PKV-pickups
Mechanics: Kluson
Electronics: 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob and 1 three-way switch

The result when played is a sound rich in mid-range frequencies.
